Whitney Awards

It is the night before the Whitney Awards are announced. I'm excited to check tomorrow to see who the finalists are. Looking back at my reading choices for the past year, I have realized that every book I read in 2009 was by an LDS author. I read close to 20 books in 2009 and all by LDS authors.

These are some of my favorites from 2009:

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Just One Wish by Janette Rallison
My Fair Godmother by Janette Rallison
Previously Engaged by Elodia Strain
Santa, Maybe by Aubrey Mace

I suspect that several of these will be finalists tomorrow. I highly reccomend them. I can't wait to find out. I'm also hoping that I've already read many of the nominated books because I have about 2 months to read the finalists so that I can vote for my favorites.

I love reading books by LDS authors and have been impressed with many of the books I read last year. However, in 2010 I think I need to expand my reading list a bit. I've joined a book group and am excited to read some different books. I'm currently reading The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger for book group. I need to finish it up this weekend so I can get started on reading Whitney finalists.

Tamara- hi. It was fun seeing the finalists this morning. What a great list.

Amanda- a readaton? Sounds cool; how's it work?

Brandi- the book group is organized by Taryn, in our ward. If you're interested in reading LDS books, next time you're over I'll show you some of my favorite titles and you can borrow them.

Oh, I'll be excited to hear what your reading group will be reading! As you know, I love them. I'm also curious about those Whitney Awards. I loved your favorites list and I also hadn't realized that Jamie Ford was LDS. Oh, how I miss being able to swap and borrow books with you.

Here are the details: http://melissasbookreviews.blogspot.com/2010/01/sunday-salon-catcher-in-rye-read-long.html

Mainly we're all just going to read it the second half of February and there will probably be a post at Melissa's blog (the same one as above) to discuss together.
